Good question. Research shows that our experiences in the world, particularly when we were young, have a profound impact on the person we are today. Our ability to cope with big emotions, how we engage in the world, how we see ourselves, how we view others, and how we believe they view us is primarily formed when we’re young. Counseling can increase our awareness of ourselves and help us “unlearn” those ways of being that aren’t working for us anymore. Through counseling, we can begin to think, act and exist in the world in a way that significantly improves our wellbeing and overall functioning. Research also shows that client-counselor fit is really important. During the free consult call, you can get a sense of my vibe, ask questions and see what feels like the best fit for you.
My rate is $200 for a 50 minute session. I offer a limited number of reduced fee spots for clients who demonstrate financial need, though at this time my reduced fee spots are currently full. Open Path Collective is an excellent resource to find therapy for those who require a very low fee, but do not qualify for Medi-Cal/Medicaid. www.OpenPathCollective.org.
No, I am not in-network with insurance companies for many reasons. My practice is out of network. Please contact your insurance company directly in advance and find out your coverage for “out of network” counseling benefits. If you request, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement, if applicable.
Under a new federal law, health care providers must give clients who don’t have insurance, or are not using their insurance (including clients who pay out-of pocket and request insurance reimbursement), an estimate of the bill for medical items and services (this includes counseling).
• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including counseling.
• Ensure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your services begin. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) at (800) 368-1019.
